Statement of the Chairman of the Regional Medical Council in Warsawon Public Utterance of Ludwik Dorn - the Marshal of Sejm of the Republic of Poland

On behalf of Polish medical environment I would like to express a firm protest about the utterance of Ludwik Dorn - the Marshal of Sejm of the Republic of Poland - given in Sejm during his press conference of 21st August 2007: When it comes to the act concerning a pay rise for the public health care service sector, I bother the most about nurses and a little bit less about doctors, for as the saying goes: "Show the doc what you have in your garage.".

The utterance is the next (after the memorable threat of calling up the doctors expressed by the then Minister of Interior and Administration) public address of Ludwik Dorn depreciating the medical environments and placing it in the opposition to the rest of the society, which is particularly harmful and blameworthy in the context of an extremely difficult situation in the public health care system in Poland.

The words bear also some political undertone - they intend to split the medical environments during the ongoing protest action and strikes.

The quoted wordings are not acceptable, especially if used by the second, after the President of the Republic of Poland, person in the country, and they mean that the person does not deserve to hold the office.

The Chairman
of the Regional Medical Council in Warsaw
Medical Doctor Andrzej WŁODARCZYK
